The Palace of Fontainebleau and visiting Tombeau de Napoleon
Only one hour by car from Paris, there is The Palace of Fontainebleau, surrounded by forest.
Founded by King Francis I, the castle did not have any defensive role, but it was richly decorated by Italian painters Rosso and Primaticcio in the Renaissance style. Many French Kings lived here - from Louis VII to Napoléon III.
Napoleon Bonaparte liked very much this place. Imperial Apartments were created here for 10 days by his order, as well as Apartments for Pope Pius VII, who arrived here for coronation. In this place Napoleon Bonaparte, when he felt himself betrayed and useless for the country, tried to end his life. Before the departure to the island Elbe, he called the castle “True house of centuries”.
But it is not the end. After arriving in Paris, you will visit Tombeau de Napoleon - a tomb, were Napoléon's remains were buried.
